| Stole this from Talaire Kent 2005
The Blame World events consume us. Destruction at our door. Natural disasters, senseless killings Terrorism and war. What has become, of the Land of the Free? Your right to be safe from sea, to shining sea. We call on our nation. We call out the guards. Yet, we fail to clean-up our own back yards. I will not point fingers. Nor, will I place blame. I'll just reach out to others who may feel the same..

| After watching a marathon six episodes of 30 rock's first season, I am officially hooked. I see several parallels to Christianity in the show although I would be the first to admit that the following examples may be oversimplifications. 1. Liz's sense of ethics and justice illustrates that she has a strong sense of morality. In one scene, a person cuts in line behind Liz, and to spite him, she buys all the hot dogs available so that he cannot purchase any. (Jesus did some pretty over the top things too like flipping over tables and flogging moneychangers who set up shop at his church.) 2. Similarly, she surrounds herself with basic slobs and social misfits from all walks of life, much like Jesus did with the disciples. Each character has an interesting relationship with Liz, none more interesting than Jack Donaghy. 3. Jack is Tina's boss and reminds me of Peter and his relationship to Jesus. He makes a lot of wrong assumptions about Liz's character and constantly questions why she isn't married, or living a glamorous life, or clawing her way to the top of the corporate ladder. Yet he is a true believer and fan of Liz's and it is clear that he ultimately cares and wants what's best for her. She constantly defends her lifestyle to him in a borderline neurotic way and this constant interplay between the two makes the dialogue interesting and humorous. I like 30 Rock and recommend it. | | |
| Arise oh my soul, in the hour before the dawn, to view the glorious light, that God has in store
Be cognizant of the one, whom you love and cherish, for she will envelope you with love, she will annoint you with a holy kiss
Be still, thou wayward soul, touch not the forbidden fruit lest you be stricken of grief for an eternity
Look instead, to the prince of peace who can calm the tumult in the midst of the grief
Turn your eye, to the one who saves manifestion of glory, hope and love
Be not prodigal, wandering away from the fold, for he will pursue you even unto brokenness and pain
Consider this, God as the alpha and omega he gave you flesh and blood so that you would be completely autonomous,
Yet utterly derivative are we, the sons of man. | | |
